Chapter 1: Seasons of Change
I don’t know if you’ve ever lost someone who was so much a part of you that you struggled just to breathe in and out. If you’ve never experienced loss in this way, rest assured that only preparation by God can help you in the midst of this storm and the pain associated with it as you stand boldly and tell others about the goodness of Jesus. He’s keeping me. The people who are in my circle of influence--my family, my friends, strangers who I come across--anyone who knows my story, watch and constantly ask me, “How are you able to continue to stand after such loss?” My answer is simple: My relationship with the Heavenly Father.
I am close to my Heavenly Father and as a result of our relationship He knows what I need and when I need it. He wipes away my tears when I am sad. He speaks for me when I cannot speak, He carries me when I cannot even walk; in fact, He has had to breathe for me because I could not even catch my breath. I might add that it has not always been like that. Somewhere along the journey I fell head over heels in love with my Heavenly Father and He prepared me for such a time as this. He now wants to prepare you through this book to stir up the latent power and exercise the “Speak Life” muscle in your mouth.
This is what I know for sure: Everyone will encounter loss in one of these categories during this life’s journey. We must prepare ourselves to handle the darkness or the darkness will handle us. I believe we all must strengthen the muscle in our mouths to speak life into our family, friends, co-workers, and strangers as they deal with the issues of life.
What a perfect example of what we might find in 21st century ministry: The issues of life covered in the intimacy of God and anointed for service to others.
“Now therefore, go, and
I will be with your mouth
and teach you
what you shall say.”
